On Tuesday, starting with 18:00, the Dinamo Kiev – Alkmaar match will be played, within the 3rd preliminary round of the Champions League. Dinamo Kiev won both direct matches with Alkmaar, 2-1 away and 2-0 at home, in the group stage of the Europa League, 2010/2011 edition. The winner of the dispute in Kiev will meet the one between Ghent and Rapid Vienna, in the play-off of the competition.
Dinamo Kiev returns in the 3rd preliminary round of the Champions League, after being eliminated by FC Brugge in the previous season. Then, the Belgians qualified for the play-offs after a draw at home, score 3-3, respectively a away victory, score 1-0. The group now coached by Mircea Lucescu started the season stormily, ticking a victory with Sahtior Donetk in the Super Cup of Ukraine, score 3-1, 4-1 with Olimpik Donetsk and 0-0 with Desna in the first two stages of the domestic championship.
Alkmaar had a postponed match in the first stage of the new season in the Eredivisie, so he played only one official duel so far, 3-1 with Plzen in the previous round, a success obtained after extra time. The Dutch, coached by Arne Slot, participated only once in the Champions League groups, in the 2009/2010 season. Since then, Alkmaar has successfully honored those present in the Europa League, where we distinguish two quarterfinals, in the 2011/2012 and 2013/2014 editions.
