After a dream start in La Liga, Real Sociedad San Sebastián was number one in the table for seven match days. But then Erreala got off track. Across all competitions, the Basques have not won a single one of their last eight competitive games. Shortly before Christmas, the current league leaders Atlético Madrid will be visiting the Estadio Anoeta.

At least the home record gives hope that at Real Sociedad against Atletico Madrid the tip on a point win for the Basques will work. At the Estadio Anoeta, there was only one defeat out of seven games and a total of just four home goals. This means that San Sebastián has the second best home defense behind today’s guest from the capital.
Atletico Madrid :
Atlético Madrid also got off to a very good start to the season, but was only recently able to profit from the fact that long-term rivals Barcelona and Real Madrid were weakening massively. The reason for this was primarily due to the fact that the Rojiblancos still have to play catch-up games due to postponements.
According to the results of the weekend, the Colchoneros are in first place in the current table despite two games less than city rivals Real Madrid. If they succeed in the maximum yield from the two open games, Diego Simeone’s squad could outrun the competition by six points.
After a complicated preseason, everything currently looks as if Atlético Madrid could play a significantly larger role in the battle for the Spanish championship, which was last won in the 2013/14 season.
