Quarterfinals of the Gold Cup, one of the favorites like the USA will face one of the surprises of the championship: Curaçao.
USA comes from doing an excellent job in the group stage where they have won all three matches without conceding a goal. Great defense and great attack, although they have a hard time scoring. In the first match against Guyana they won 4-0, but they were very favorites and at halftime they were only 1-0; in the second part, 3 more entered. In the second match against Trinidad and Tobago they won 6-0, but again the opponent was very weak and they were only winning 1-0 at halftime; in the second part they walked 5. And in their third game they had to face a team with more level than Panama and they won 0-1, but the goal fell in the second half.
On the side of Curaçao in none of their 3 group stage matches came this bet: they lost 0-1 against El Salvador (goal in the first half), they won 0-1 against Honduras (goal in the first half) and drew 1 -1 against Jamaica (they fit in the first half and scored in the second).
In principle, I was going to get the US to win without conceding, but I am not convinced by the quota for how well Curaçao is competing. The same thing happens with the handicap since they are very solid behind. So analyzing the game, I see that the US is having a hard time seeing the door and that added to the defensive solidity of Curaçao makes me think that with some luck the Yankees goal will be delayed. When the US marks, Curacao will have to go out with everything to score since it is a tie and against the Yankees can be lethal. But I reiterate what has been said, they are taking a long time to be comfortable in the 3/4 zone and Curaçao defends very well, I think the scoreboard may take time to open and once the Yankees score several goals. You also have to take into account how well the US defends, so I do not see Curaçao coming forward and then putting the bus. Still, we do not care who scores, goals are going to be, I just hope they arrive in the second half.
