PSV – Waalwijk SOCCER PICKS
PSV takes on RKC Waalwijk at home in the second round of the KNVB Cup. Because of their status, the Eindhoven players are obliged to win this competition without any problems.
PSV:
PSV Eindhoven is the proud leader in the Eredivisie. Last Saturday, Mark van Bommel’s team also stayed in the tenth league game without losing any point. Just like in the previous away games in the Eredivisie it was not easy for PSV. PSV appeared moderately on PSV’s visit to FC Groningen. The game seemed to be heading for a draw. That was beyond Denzel Dumfries, who scored the winning 1-2 just before time to the delight of the PSV fans who traveled along.
In the cup, PSV had few problems with Excelsior Maassluis in the first round. Van Bommel could give his regular team a duel at the time. With a b-team, a simple 0-4 win was achieved. It is not yet known whether Van Bommel also gives the reserve players a chance against RKC. Perhaps it is more likely that a mix of basic and reserve players is at the kickoff. The coach said on the club site that he did not consider the cup as a secondary goal. ‘I always took the cup seriously. And that was no different for my teammates, ‘said the PSV coach.
RKC Waalwijk:
RKC Waalwijk came in the second round of the cup by eliminating a premier division in the first round. A month ago, the Waalwijkers in the derby against NAC were the winners. In his own stadium RKC won from the Bredanaars (2-0). That victory was one of the scarce highlights of the past two months. Last weekend, RKC won in the Kitchen Champions Division for the first time since eight league matches. At home, 3-2 was too strong for Jong FC Utrecht.
The team from Waalwijk does not yet participate in the First Division for the time being. With eleven out of eleven, the team of former (interim) national coach Fred Grim is in an anonymous fifteenth place. Success in the cup will probably not save the season, with the heavy away match in Eindhoven ahead. The team hopes in Eindhoven to at least have the support of the Waalwijk fans. It will not be the price for an admission ticket. For five euros, the supporters can be part of the competition.
