Back in the Eredivisie and Fortuna Sittard immediately leaves a point to the difficult away game against Excelsior. PSV has shown that same weekend this year to participate in the title with a strong pot against FC Utrecht. Surprised Fortuna or will it be three simple points for the Eindhoven team?

Fortuna Sittard:

For the first time since 2002 Fortuna Sittard plays at the highest level in the Netherlands and after all the uncertain years in which a possible bankruptcy lurked, this season can finally be smiled in Sittard (also in view of the financial picture). With an away match in Rotterdam against Excelsior, Fortuna started the season in which it hopes for life retention. The men of René Eijer slightly started unaccustomed to the game and after half an hour that resulted in the opening goal in Rotterdam after a weakly defended corner.

Fortuna, however, came a lot stronger for the day after rest. Because of the fierce football Fortuna got many more opportunities and that paid off in the 53rd minute when Jorrit Smeets curled the ball beautifully (but unconsciously) in the far corner. In an interview after the game Smeets immediately indicated that he wanted to give a cross. That this cross failed failed not to unfavorable for Fortuna. Not shortly after Excelsior got a red card and it was the away team that went looking for the win.

With a majority on the field, Fortuna no longer managed to win the win and so the first game in sixteen years ended in a tie in the Eredivisie. Looking ahead to the match against PSV again a draw would be a big achievement. We are going to see if Eijer manages to prepare his men in such a way that a good result is achieved against the title candidate.

PSV:

Against Feyenoord in the battle for the Johan Cruyff Scale was the search for the PSV battle plan. A week later it became clear that there is indeed an idea behind the game of PSV. With two excellent emerging backs, the Eindhoven-team FC Utrecht completely rolled up in the first league game of the season. Nice goals came from the foot of Gaston Pereiro, Steven Bergwijn and Hirving Lozano. The final agreement came through a header from Denzel Dumfries. With that goal the right back crowned a strong performance. Together with left back Angeliño Dumfries made his debut in the Eredivisie for PSV and for a moment the backs did not seem to have any adjustment problems.

For PSV, the game against Fortuna Sittard is actually a prelude to the diptych with BATE Borisov. In the play-offs of the Champions League, the champion of Belarus has to be dealt with in two games. Next week on Tuesday the game will be waiting in Belarus. Will Mark van Bommel succeed in getting his men ready for the game against Fortuna, or is his team already in Borisov?

Against Van Bommel Van Bommel has an extra choice in midfield. Last week Ryan Thomas came over from PEC Zwolle and the New Zealander has signed for five seasons in Eindhoven. Thomas comes across a familiar face at PSV, because not too long before his arrival, Trent Sainsbury (former PEC Zwolle) was captured by the national champion.
