Leicester – Cardiff SOCCER PICKS

Leicester City won on Boxing Day surprisingly from Manchester City. This weekend, The Foxes will again play a match at the King Power Stadium. PhD student Cardiff City visits the Claude Puel team on Saturday.

Leicester City:

What a week it has been for Leicester City. Last weekend, The Foxes won with a 0-1 visit to Chelsea – at Stamford Bridge, Jamie Vardy was responsible for the only goal of the game. Over the entire race, Leicester City was entitled to a result at The Blues last weekend. Perhaps a tie would have done more justice to the proportions on the field, but The Foxes obviously had a grind afterwards. As if the victory at Chelsea was not yet sweet enough, Leicester City on Boxing Day also won ‘even’ champion Manchester City. The Foxes won 2-1 from The Citizens through goals by Marc Albrighton and Ricardo Pereira. Especially the goal that Pereira made a few minutes before the last whistle was allowed. Leicester City thus won the last two games that it played against top teams. Of the nineteen games that The Foxes played against the ‘Big Six’ from England, Leicester only won two.

The points that Leicester City took against Chelsea and Manchester City are of course bonus points for The Foxes. Bonus points that are very useful at the moment. Leicester City is in seventh place in the Premier League due to the two winning matches and now has one point ahead of the pursuers Everton and Watford. All in all, Claude Puel enjoys the ride at Leicester City. On Saturday afternoon the game is waiting for The Foxes with Cardiff City and Leicester will have to make the game. That did not have to be the case in the matches with Chelsea and Manchester City, that is also the strength of Leicester. So Leicester has to make the game against Cardiff City and it is interesting to see if Leicester City will give the victories at Chelsea and Manchester City a good follow-up if Cardiff City visits the King Power Stadium.

Cardiff City:

At Cardiff City they will undoubtedly travel to Leicester City with fear and trembling. The Bluebirds have also watched the last two Leicester matches in detail and have come to the conclusion that this Cardiff City must be very much out of itself if it wants to get a result in the King Power Stadium. The team of Neil Warnock can certainly use a good result on a visit to Leicester City, because PhD student Cardiff City is just above the mark. The Bluebirds have only three points more than Burnley, that club is not only directly under Cardiff City but is also the first team under the relegation streak. The fact that Cardiff City is fighting against relegation all season is not surprising: The Bluebirds promoted fairly unexpectedly to the Premier League and also invested little. Perhaps there will be some reinforcements in the transfer period by Vincent Tan, the Malaysian owner of Cardiff City.

Just like Leicester City, Cardiff City also took action during Christmas. On Boxing Day the meeting with Crystal Palace was on the program in London. Both supporters of Crystal Palace and Cardiff City could have used their afternoon better, because at Selhurst Park there were no goals. The 0-0 draw was not that bad for Cardiff City, because The Bluebirds can use every point right now. Moreover, the team of Warnock lost a few days before with 1-5 from Manchester United and on visit to Crystal Palace Cardiff City held for the second time this season in an away match the null.
