Cardiff – Everton SOCCER PICKS
On Tuesday and Wednesday evenings, a full game round in the Premier League will be completed. On Tuesday-evening, the game between Cardiff City and Everton is on the schedule. Cardiff City was humbled in-house by Watford on Friday night, while Everton had a break last weekend.
Cardiff City:
For Cardiff City it is nice that there is another game scheduled for midweek. That has everything to do with the last game of The Bluebirds which, to say the least, did not end well for Neil Warnock and his team. On Friday night, Watford was far too strong for Cardiff City, which ran into an 1-5 loss in-house. The PhD student was completely searched by The Hornets in his own stadium and in defensiveness it did not look like anything the Warnock team showed. Cardiff City already had to collect 28 goals this season in its own Cardiff City Stadium, making Cardiff the team with the most goals in its own stadium.
Because Cardiff City took action against Watford on Friday, The Bluebirds were able to drop to the eighteenth place on Sunday afternoon. That did not happen, because Southampton went down at the Emirates Stadium against Arsenal and because of that defeat, Cardiff City still stands above the relegation streak. However, the gap on Southampton is only one point and because Southampton will play against Fulham on Wednesday-evening, it is not excluded that The Bluebirds and The Saints will switch from one to the other. The chance that Cardiff City will get a good result against Everton is not that big, especially after the Friday night break.
Everton:
At Everton they have recently used the proverbial dots on the i. It does not go too well with the team of Marco Silva and the Portuguese knows that only a victory counts when he visits his team on Tuesday evening with relegation candidate Cardiff City. Everton is in the Premier League in a disappointing eleventh place and The Toffees were eliminated early in both the Carabao Cup and the FA Cup. As a result, Everton seemed to be able to fully focus on the competition, but that has not yet led to the desired results. The Toffees are obliged to end their season as ‘best of the rest’. Unfortunately for the Everton supporters it does not seem that their club will even come close to seventh place anyway. The Toffees have seven points less than the number seven Watford and no one expects Everton to close that gap.
With an eleventh place it is a disappointing season for the second club from the Merseyside. The fact that Everton is now in the right-hand row has everything to do with the results of The Toffees in February. Or rather, it has everything to do with all the lost matches of Everton in February. The Toffees played three Premier League-games this month and all matches were lost. It must be said that Everton played against Wolverhampton (1-3), Manchester City (0-2) and Watford (1-0). In short: three teams that do better this season than The Toffees. At Everton they had no obligations during the past two weekends and therefore The Toffees were able to fully participate in the duel in Cardiff. Nevertheless, Marco Silva’s team will also have watched with a slant on the game of next Sunday, as that is on the program at Goodison Park de derby with Liverpool.
