Premier League Week 4 Preview

As we move into September, the English Premier League season is 3 games old and Manchester United look the team to catch. Jose Mourinho’s reds have a 100% record so far this term and have scored 10 goals and are also yet to concede which sees them installed as the 9/4 second favourites to win the title this year with Bet 365.

The current favourites to pick up the title in May are United’s cross-town rivals Manchester City. The sky-blues missed out on signing Alexis Sanchez and Jonny Evans on Deadline Day but look to have a strong squad and also have had an unbeaten start to the 2017/18 season (2 wins and 1 draw) and have 7 points. They are best priced 7/5 with UniBet to be lifting the Premier League trophy in May.

Chelsea had a shaky start to their Premier League season but back-to-back victories over Tottenham and then Everton seems to have rejuvenated Antonio Conte’s men. They look to have had a mixed transfer window – bringing in Alvaro Morata and Danny Drinkwater but they have sold Nemanja Matic to rivals Manchester United and last season’s star man Diego Costa is deemed surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge. The Blues are 11/2 with Bet Victor to pick up the title once again this term.

After an impressive 4-0 win over Arsenal on Sunday, Liverpool have now been instilled as the 4th favourites for the Premier League title this year. Jurgen Klopp’s charges looked in imperious form against the Gunners and have inflicted further pain on them by signing Alex Oxlade Chamberlain on Deadline Day for £35 million pounds. The reds are 12/1 with Bwin to win their first Premier League title this term.

Backing teams in the outright market at this early stage of the season can be very profitable as bookmakers are often unsure of how the season is going to pan out. Due to the international fixtures taking place this weekend, there is no Premier League action until 9th September and the league will be back with a bang.

Two of the league favourites – Manchester City and Liverpool face off at the Etihad Stadium in Saturday’s early kick off. Man City start this one as the 9/10 favourites with Betfred, whilst Liverpool will fancy their chances of victory at 3/1 with Paddy Power. These are 2 very evenly matched teams on paper and the draw looks good value at 3/1 with William Hill.

The early season pace setters Manchester United have a tricky looking tie on Saturday evening as they face Stoke at the Bet 365 Stadium and United’s positive start to the stadium sees them start as the 8/15 favourites with Sky Bet. Stoke will be eager to replicate their impressive win over Arsenal two weeks ago and will be calling upon their fabled home support and are best priced 13/2 with Bet Victor. The draw won’t be a result that particularly suits United but it’s available at 7/2 with Sporting Bet.

6th placed Chelsea has a very difficult looking away trip to Leicester City who won the Premier League title back in 2015/16. Danny Drinkwater has just left Leicester to sign for Chelsea but looks unlikely to be involved here due to injury. Chelsea are 5/6 to go to the King Power Stadium and win with Marathon Bet and Leicester look a little over priced at 4/1 for the win with Betfair. The draw between these 2 clubs also looks good value at 5/2 with Ladbrokes.

Arsenal will be eager to get their season back up and running following a disastrous couple of weeks. The Gunners have lost to Stoke and Liverpool in the last two game weeks and have also sold prize asset Alex Oxlade Chamberlain. They face Bournemouth on Saturday at the Emirates Stadium and they’ll be hoping a return to their home stadium can wield some more successful results. They are 2/5 with Betway to win this one and Bournemouth look to have it all to do at 7/1 with Coral whilst the draw is 15/4 with Boyle Sports.
