France – Croatia Prediction & Picks (15.07.2018)

France – Croatia FREE PICKS

On Sunday afternoon at 16 o’clock the time has finally come: The finals will be played at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia. France meets in the Olympic Stadium Luzhniki from Moscow to Croatia. The French defeated Belgium 1-0 in the semi-final. Croatia drew with a 2-1 after extra time against England in the final. For France, it is the third World Cup final in history after 1998 and 2006. The team Tricolore can get the second title in their history in Moscow. The Vatreni have already achieved the biggest success in history after finishing third in the 1998 World Cup. At that time at the finals in 1998 Croatia dropped out in the semi-final with 1: 2 against France and the French were in the final against Brazil for the first time world champion. The Croatians have never won against France in five matches. The French won three times and two draws were split. In the final of the 2018 World Cup, is there the first victory for Croatia against betting odds?

At the beginning of the semi-final, France had great respect for the Belgians. Despite a seemingly offensive 4-3-3 the team of coach Didier Deschamps played quite carefully. Pavard seemed a bit overwhelmed on his left side at the beginning. After about half an hour, the Equipe Tricolore gradually became stronger. The 1: 0 in the 51th minute for Les Bleus fell nevertheless out of nowhere: Umtiti scored for a corner. With the leadership behind them, the Grande Nation played smart, calm and controlled. The French were low, moved very well and hardly allowed any chances of the opponent. France does not play well, enthusiastically or brilliantly at this finals. Sober, clear, efficient and result-oriented. All are subordinated to the goal and the team spirit. Above all, one can adapt well to the playing style of the opponent.

The defense is also very safe: in four of the six World Cup games, France remained without a clean sheet. In addition, the defenders like Benjamin Pavard, Raphael Varane and Samuel Umtiti shoot the important goals. Already in the World Cup semi-final in 1998, right-back Lilian Thuram shot his nation into the final with two goals. Deschamps had led the team Tricolore 1998 as captain of the world title, now he could also be world champion as coach. This was previously only possible for Brazilians Mario Zagallo and Franz Beckenbauer. France has been unbeaten for ten international matches. In the recent 18 internationals, there was only one defeat. Whether Blaise Matuidi, who had to be replaced injured in the semifinals, can contest the final is still unclear. Betting on France is offered against Croatia with betting odds of 2.00, which are still attractive in our eyes given the French favorites status for the 2018 World Cup Final.

After just five minutes, the Croatians were in their semi-final against England by a directly converted free-kick in arrears. In the first half, the Vatreni had big problems with the opponent. Against a particularly in the center very stable defensive Croatia could create no opportunities. With a bit of bad luck you could have even gone into the break with a higher backlog. In the second round, the Kockasti had more play, but the punch was missing. The 68th minute brought the turn: Perisic scored after a cross from Vrsaljko to 1: 1. After that, the Croats were much better at the game and much more dangerous. The decision was still only in extra time: Mandzukic met in the 109th minute to 2: 1. In the end, the Vatreni earned earned in their first World Cup final.

Man of the match was Ivan Perisic, who scored the equalizer and prepared the winning goal. The team of coach Zlatko Dalic has its strengths in areas such as discipline, collective, fighting spirit or mental strength. In the eighth, quarter and semi-final you had to make up one residue each. Collectively, the team has a tremendous will to win. Croatia have been without defeat for seven international matches and have won all seven games. Ivan Strinic lost to England because of a field injury. His use is still questionable. Against France, Croatia is equipped for a bet on the victory with higher, but consequently riskier odds. Betting in this direction should therefore be well considered.
