Europa-League

FK Sarajevo (Bih) – Buducnost (Mne) SOCCER PICKS

In the Europa League, the last qualifying round takes place before the decisive play-offs. Among other things, Champions League losers also meet in that round. This is also the case with the duel between FK Sarajevo and Buducnost Podgorica, where the Bosnian champion receives the Montenegrin champion. As the odds comparison of the betting base shows, the Bosnians are the favorites.

The soccer players from the Bosnian capital have recently gained a lot of self-confidence with four wins in a row. It remains to be seen whether the Bordo-bijeli will actually qualify for the group stage of the Europa League.

In the almost 73-year history of the club, FK Sarajevo – formerly known as SD Torpedo – has never reached the group stage of an international competition. In the Champions League, FK Sarajevo were eliminated by Dinamo Brest, but they did a very promising performance. The Montenegrin guests from Podgorica also come from the CL qualification.

In contrast to the Bosnians, Buducnost Podgorica was already represented in the last qualifying round of the Europa League. There was a big surprise against the huge favorites from Astana. In addition to our analysis of the game between FK Sarajevo vs. Buducnost Podgorica you can find more betting tips around the Europa League in the Europa League Tips category.

FK Sarajevo:

Last season, FK Sarajevo was named Bosnian champion for the fifth time in the club’s history and was thus able to defend the title from last year. The Bordo-bijeli is only one title away from catching up with teams like Zrinjski and Zeljeznicar. It only seems a matter of time before FK Sarajevo become the new record champions in Bosnia.

Last season, the capital’s footballers benefited from the end of the season in the Bosnian Premier League. The start of the new season shows that the championship was by no means happy. After eight game days, Bordo-bijeli is again at the top of the table and greets with a 6-2-0 record.

A total of 18 goals have been scored in the previous eight games in the Bosnian Premier League. Before the home game against Buducnost Podgorica, FK Sarajevo also won the dress rehearsal against Sloboda 3-2 and thus once again underpinned the offensive qualities of the team. At home, the Bordo-bijeli want to add more.

This calendar year, FK Sarajevo has so far remained unbeaten at the home stadium Asim Ferhatovic Hase. It is definitely a decisive psychological factor, despite the ghostly backdrop, mind you, to tackle the qualifying game in the Europa League with such a strong home record behind you.

Coach Vinko Marinovic will only have to do without right-back Sabanovic and center-back Milicevic against the Montenegrin opponent. There are no further failures at FK Sarajevo.

Buducnost Podgorica:

Buducnost Podgorica continues the run in the Europa League for the time being. Surprisingly, the Montenegrins eliminated the strong home Kazakhs from Astana in the last qualifying round, thus solving the ticket for the third qualifying round for the first time since the 2010/11 season. The Montenegrin champion is now only two steps away from the group stage of the Europa League.

In qualifying for the Champions League, the Montenegrins presented themselves too weak to defy the Bulgarian opponent from Razgrad. The away win at FC Astana in the most recent qualifying round of the Europa League was therefore all the more surprising. After all, the Kazakhs were among the regulars in the Europa League group stage.

In contrast to FK Sarajevo, Buducnost Podgorica had no play last weekend. So there was enough regeneration time for the upcoming hurdle in the EL qualification. If Buducnost builds on the strong performance against FC Astana in the away game in Sarajevo, the ticket for the play-offs will certainly be realizable.

Last season Buducnost Podgorica was the strongest offensive and defensive player in the Prva Crnogorska Liga. This season, however, there were significant losses, especially in the defensive game. Plavo-bijeli conceded a total of seven goals in the first four games of the new season – four of them in the city derby against FK Podgorica.

Accordingly, the result against FC Astana should not be praised too highly. Buducnost coach Mladen Milinkovic will not have to complain about any serious failures at the away game in the Bosnian capital. Changes compared to the starting line-up against FC Astana are not expected.
