Real Madrid – Shakhtar Donetsk SOCCER PICKS

The new season in the Champions League is finally starting. As usual, record winners Real Madrid are once again one of the favorites for the title. First of all, however, the group phase has to be successfully overcome, in which the “white ballet” is challenged with some strong opponents.

Shakhtar Donetsk is perhaps the easiest opponent, because the other challengers are Inter Milan and Borussia Mönchengladbach. A successful start would be very important for the slightly battered Madrilenians, as the league has not yet offered too convincing performances.

For Donetsk, the long journey to Spain is naturally a Herculean task. Not surprisingly, Real Madrid vs. Shakhtar Donetsk clear all odds against the reigning Ukrainian champions. An away win in the premier class would be a sensation.

The guests are not without a chance either, because Real has not yet presented itself as confidently in the league as it did last year. Given the previous performances of Madrid, this rate is not necessarily convincing.

Real Madrid :

After Real had already finished in the last sixteen last year, Zinedine Zidane now wants to really get going again with his squad. The omens could be better, however, because strong opponents in the group stage and a moderate start to the season are currently not making the task easy.

Only a few months after winning the national title, things are looking less bright in LaLiga. In five league games it was only possible to win once with more than one goal difference and recently it even set a surprising 0-1 home defeat against stragglers Cadiz.

Accordingly, the fans in the Spanish capital are getting a little impatient, because they want to cheer their team again at regular goal spectacles. The “White Ballet” is still not very elegant and has certain problems, especially in offensive play.

Despite the home defeat last Saturday, Real Madrid vs. Shakhtar Donetsk’s current odds give the hosts a clear advantage. The pressure to deliver a good game on Wednesday is correspondingly great.

In Real’s tight and lackluster games so far, it was primarily Vinicius Junior who could play his way into the limelight as the future bearer of hope. He has already been responsible for a number of key goals and could be a key player against Donetsk.

At least the defense around the warrior Ramos presents itself uncompromisingly in the usual manner. So far, three goals conceded in five games of the season is an acceptable value. Against Donetsk, Zidane can also use the full power of the starting squad according to the current suspensions and injuries in the Champions League.

Precisely because of the individual quality, Real Madrid vs. Shakhtar Donetsk certainly justified a forecast on the hosts despite the current difficulties. The duel on Wednesday will hardly be a Sunday stroll.

Shakhtar Donetsk:

The top Ukrainian club is repeatedly involved in the premier class, the greatest success so far being the quarter-finals in 2011. With the championship title last season, Donetsk is back in the concert of the great this year and can look forward to a blast against Real Madrid at the beginning.

Nationally, the start of the season was rather bumpy, because so far it has only been enough for three full successes. Although Shakhtar has not yet suffered a defeat in the league, the defending champion is currently only in third place.

In the duel for the Ukrainian Supercup, the Castro-Elf also had to admit defeat in the prestige duel Dynamo Kiev. The international stage now offers the opportunity to shine.

To get in the duel Real Madrid vs. Shakhtar Donetsk to punish the odds lies, the guests have to increase above all on the defensive. With ten goals conceded in seven games so far, it is clear where the team’s weaknesses lie.

The attack in particular could embarrass Real, because so far Shakhtar has scored in every game of the season. The Brazilian offensive force with Tete, Marlos & Taison can cause problems for any defense. The Eastern Europeans are definitely capable of at least one hit.

Against slightly ailing Madrilenians, coach Castro and his team certainly don’t want to travel to Spain as cannon fodder. With a defensive counter tactic, if the game goes well, at least one point is possible for the Ukrainians. In any case, the game is difficult.
