Liverpool is in a fierce battle with Napoli and Paris Saint Germain for a spot in the knockout phase of the Champions League. Point loss against Red Star Belgrade is therefore not an option.

At Anfield we saw two former players from the Eredivisie in action besides Virgil van Dijk and Georginio Wijnaldum. Lorenzo Ebecilio, who became champion with Ajax in the 2010/2011 season, held the number ten position behind the Ghanaian Richmond Boakye, who played for Roda JC on a blue Monday.
Liverpool:
Liverpool wants to make a throw at all the big prizes this season. The team wants to crown the best team in England for the first time since the Premier League was formed, and also took revenge for the lost Champions League final last season.

Also in the Champions League Liverpool is on track for the time being to reach the knockout stage. After three games, the Reds are first. In the first game round PSG was defeated at Anfield, followed by a defeat in Naples and a simple home victory over Red Star Belgrade. Because Napoli and PSG play each other on Tuesday-evening, Liverpool can strengthen its leading position when Red Star is defeated again.
