Before this tournament, Timea have no less than five defeats in as many games played in 2017 in WTA tournaments. The only prior WTA Budapest victories were obtained in Fed Cup, 2-0 in sets against Deai Herdzelas (467 WTA) and Ana Konjuh (WTA 36).

This season, sport aged 23 years had better results in doubles, where a title has won the Sydney tournament which paired with Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova. Budapest, Babos participated in the doubles, where she paired with opponent in the final, but the two were forced to abandon their pre-game semifinal, in order to rest after matches played in singles.

At WTA Budapest, Timea came Ipek Soylu row (161 WTA – 6-3, 6-2), Anna Blinkova (148 WTA – 6-3, 6-2), Oceane Dodin (63 WTA – 6-4, 2-6, 6-1) and Julia Goerges (WTA 56 – 7-5, 6-1).

Lucie Safarova (WTA 47)

Former world number five singles rankings Czech athlete has suffered and during the last seasons. This happened only in singles, but in doubles, Lucie has taken a significant step up in the second position. Incidentally, the only title won this season Lucie is at the Australian Open in the doubles, achieved success with Bethanie Mattek-Sands. That was the 4th successful cehoaica a big slam tournament after those obtained in the 2015 Australian Open and French Open and the 2016 US Open (all in doubles).

At this tournament, Safarova came row Magda Linette (WTA 96 – 6-0, 5-7, 7-6), Su-Wei Hsieh (102 WTA – 6-2, 6-1), Aliaksandr Sasnovich (123 WTA – 6-3, 7-5) and Karina Witthoeft (WTA 83 – 6-4, 6-3).
