Ida of the playoffs of promotion to First. Semifinal between Deportivo and Málaga. We’re going for Malaga’s draw or victory.
The Andalusians finished the season being 3rd, getting 74 points, being in the playoff zones and direct ascent throughout the season, showing their regularity this year.
El Deportivo, 6th, managed to enter these playoffs due to Cádiz. He fell at home against Extremadura in a match in which they should have won, and they became dependent on Deportivo to enter, but on the last day the Galicians did their homework with this last playoff spot.
For this match I see Malaga more plugged in than Deportivo.
They have 4 consecutive victories (Elche, Albacete, Zaragoza and Oviedo) and 5 games without losing (the 4 victories and the draw in Cádiz). His last defeat was on April 27 vs. Mallorca (0-1), the only loss in his last 12 starts.
As visitors, it was the 2nd (tied with Granada) that scored the most points away from home: 34 out of 63 (53.97%), being the most goalscorers (23).
Depor has had many more ups and downs than Malaga this season. He has reached the 14th position, very far from the playoff positions. However, the final stretch of the league has benefited them to enter these playoffs.
Despite this, as locals are ranked 7th, with 38 points in their favor, scoring 31 goals and conceding 14.
These last 2 victories (Córdoba and Mallorca) gave them that plus to face the last days. However, we found that they were for 7 matches in Riazor without getting the victory, with 5 draws and 3 losses, against descending teams like Rayo Majadahonda (0-2) or in the lower area of the table (0-0 vs Tenerife).
As for H2H this year, Deportivo have not yet managed to win the Andalusian team:
Málaga 0-0 Deportivo
Deportivo 1-1 Málaga
We hope that the regularity of this Malaga will prevail in Riazor and can get that positive result for the return in La Rosaleda.
