South Korea – Honduras FREE PICKS
Meeting of the twelfth league match of the Norwegian championship.
The World Cup will start in about three weeks, so South Korea is currently in the middle of its preparation. At the own Daegu Stadium, the Asians take on Honduras, which will have to follow the World Cup behind the tube. Central Americans traveled to South Korea with a weakened selection.
South Korea is preparing for its ninth World Cup in a row again. The Asians are faced with a tough group with group matches against Sweden, Mexico and Germany, but with a bit of luck they could just place themselves before the knockout phase. Profit in the first group match against Sweden is of crucial importance.
The absolute star player of South Korea is of course Son Heung-min. The attacker last season accounted for twelve goals on behalf of Tottenham Hotspur, with which he was the first ever Asian player to report in the top ten most accurate players in the English Premier League. Other notable names in the preselection of national coach Shin Tae-yong are attacker Hwang Hee-chan, who caused a furore in the Europa League and former FC Barcelona prodigy Lee Seung-woo on behalf of Red Bull Salzburg, who will make his debut against Honduras. The midfielder moved to the Italian Hellas Verona last season, although the Spanish top club managed to force a buyback clause. Anyone who will kick off on Monday-evening is still unclear, but after recent defeats in practice matches against Northern Ireland (2-1) and Poland (3-2), The Reds can use a mental boost in the run-up to the World Cup.
Honduras was still on the final two World Cup rounds, but the Central Americans will be out of the game this summer. For a long time it seemed that the country could already reserve its airline tickets to Russia, but in the final round, despite a 3-2 victory over Mexico, it fell from the top three. With a fourth place, Honduras got a second chance in the form of play-offs against Australia, but things went wrong too. National coach Jose Luis Pinto was then thrown out of the street, interim coach Carlos Tabora temporarily took the honors at La Bicolor. The practice match against South Korea thus becomes his baptism of fire.
Tabora does not end up in Honduras in a staggered bed, because the – for local standards – big boys are not there in and against South Korea. Players like Romell Quioto, Boniek Garcia and Alberth Ellis are normally the ones who have to pull the Honduran cart, but they are still in the race for the American national title with their club Houston Dynamo. Girona attacker Anthony Lozano also shines through absence. So Tabora has to do it mainly with players who are still active in their own country. “It is no different,” according to the decision-maker. ‘We must row with the belts we have and we will do our utmost to represent our country as well as possible.’
