Nijmegen – Graafschap SOCCER PICKS

NEC and De Graafschap are two teams with a large Eredivisie history and yearn for a return at the highest level. NEC must keep the points in the Goffert to keep in touch with the Super farmers.

NEC:

NEC relegated from the Eredivisie in 2017 and has not been able to return since. In the 2017/2018 season, the people of Nijmegen were still at the top during the winter break, but completely relinquished the second half of the season and later in the play-offs. Last season there was one to be forgotten quickly, as NEC finished in twelfth place and immediately flew out in the play-offs against later PhD candidate RKC, after having won the first match 2-0, NEC went 3 -0 down in Waalwijk.

This year a new attempt follows, with new trainer François Gesthuizen and the necessary changes in the selection. Sven Braken, Leroy Labylle, Tresor Ndayishimiye and mercenaries Ferdy Druijf and Jordy Bruijn, among others, left, while the presence of Joey van den Berg and Matthias Bossaerts is no longer appreciated. The pair has been reset to the promises. They failed to leave during the transfer period and now play in Young NEC. They replaced Jellert van Landschoot, Etien Velikonja, Bas Kuipers, Zian Flemming and Tom van de Looi, among others.

The start of NEC this season can be called hopeful. The opening match was lost to FC Eindhoven, after which a draw against Young Ajax and victories against Roda JC and Telstar followed. Last Friday, the team lost two points visiting FC Den Bosch. NEC even looked twice behind and the equalizer of substitute Etienne Velikonja fell only in the absolute injury time, so that the draw on the Vliert can be celebrated as a bonus point.

De Graafschap:

De Graafschap is the top favorite of this season to return directly to the highest level, be it through the championship or through second place. Last year, the Doetinchemmers finished 16th in the Eredivisie and were therefore sentenced to play-offs. In the semi-final Henk de Jong’s team managed to deal with Cambuur, but in the final Sparta was too strong. The 1-2 win at the Castle in the first leg was a generous starting position to secure enforcement at home, but on the Vijverberg, the County degraded by a 0-2 defeat.

The new trainer Mike Snoei has to build a completely new team. The best players left. Among others, Youssef El Jebli, Delano Burgzorg, Fabian Serrarens, Furdjel Narsingh, Bart Straalman, Lars and Sven Nieuwpoort, Charlison Benschop and Azor Matusiwa closed the Vijverberg door behind them. In their place came players who must also be able to handle the top of the Kitchen Champion Division such as Ralf Seuntjens, Roland Baas, Branco van den Boomen, Gregor Breinburg and Jeremy Helmer.

The start of the Super farmers was certainly good. No less than thirteen points were scored from the first five games. Cambuur, MVV and FC Volendam were easily defeated and a draw was scored against Oss. Only in the fifth league match last Friday did goalkeeper Jurjus have to fish for the first time. in the match against Jong Ajax, which at rest looked like a certain defeat thanks to the 0-2 lead for the guests. In the second half, the team of suspended trainer Mike Snoei turned the tide: after a red card for Quinten Timber, Jasper van Heertum provided the connecting goal, after which Branco van den Boomen and Ralf Seuntjens bent the deficit into a victory.
