Netherlands – Germany SOCCER PICKS

The Dutch national team plays in Amsterdam in the Nations League against Germany on Saturday-evening. Both countries have a good result. Who has the best papers?

Netherlands:

The Netherlands is still in the construction phase, after missing out on the two final rounds of 2016 and 2018. The worst period seems to be over by now. With national team member Ronald Koeman at the helm, the Dutch team looks better than in previous years, despite the fact that only two of the six games played in this calendar year were won. Last month, the dolf Netherlands in the first match in the UEFA Nations League the worst. The team of Koeman did not play bad against France. With a bit more fortune a draw had certainly been in it, but in the end 2-1 was lost.

What creates optimism are especially the talented players who are coming. Matthijs de Ligt and Frenkie de Jong seem to be basic players for Koeman. Also at PSV there are some good young players who could be a reinforcement for the Netherlands. The national coach Denzel Dumfries, Steven Bergwijn and Pablo Rosario have called for the next two games – on Tuesday, the Netherlands will play against Belgium in Brussels. Dumfries and Bergwijn also make a good chance to start right away. Dumfries could start sometimes, since many other options for the right-back position are not satisfying or are injured. Bergwijn has good papers because there are not that many alternatives for Koeman to choose from.

Germany:

For Germany, 2018 is not a happy football year. The total failed World Cup, in which Germany as one of the title favorites did not do anything and was eliminated in the group stage, caused a lot of chagrijn among the football fans. The DFB decided not to change the scale on a large scale after the World Cup. National coach Joachim Löw had, not unfairly, a lot of credit and was allowed to stay. Last month, Germany played 0-0 in the Nations League against France. A few days later, Peru was defeated in a friendly game (2-1).

One of the challenges for Löw in the coming period is to provide the team with new impulses. The saturated group needs to be renewed, and talents will get the chance of Löw. In that respect, it is unfortunate that players like Leon Goretzka and Kai Havertz have been injured and have to abandon this match. Also Marco Reus will not see the spectators in Amsterdam on Saturday. However, there are still enough good players left. Löw will be at the kickoff with a strong formation.
