Manchester United – Derby SOCCER PICKS

Manchester United and Derby County cross the swords as part of the Carabao Cup. The former League Cup has been renamed and the fate has linked both teams in the third round. On Tuesday-evening, it is fought out who goes on to the fourth round in the encounter between fallen Premier League superpower Manchester United and Championship top team Derby County. A look ahead.

Manchester United:

For Manchester United it is busy weeks. The club is still active on all fronts and that of course involves a hefty load for the players, but before that, manager Jose Mourinho in the past and present also invested millions in his selection. For the time being, this season is far from good. In the Premier League it is disappointing in seventh place after the right draw (1-1) last Saturday at Old Trafford against Wolverhampton Wanderers. The football week United in Switzerland started so well with a great victory at Young Boys (0-3) for the Champions League. The difference in performance with the Premier League can hardly be greater for Mourinho and his players. Teams (Leicester City, Burnley and Watford) were won, of which United always has to win. In Brighton there was the embarrassing loss against lowflight Brighton and Hove Albion (3-2) and at Old Trafford it was eliminated in between by Tottenham Hotspur and Lucas Moura (0-3). So last Saturday there was a point-division against the Wolves (1-1), so the counter is ten points out of six games.

Manager Jose Mourinho was not the nicest afterwards: “Against this result was actually nothing to bring. They have really deserved this point. We deserved to be punished. They started better. They were also sharper and had a better attitude and motivation. When I look at my own team, I expected more of my attackers today. There was no creativity, movement and dynamism. We had a preponderance, but we could not break pots in the last twenty minutes. We were lucky today than we scored first. I can not explain why we played so weak. I have never had a bad day, but apparently my team is. ”

A noteworthy and also fun last quote from the flamboyant Portuguese manager, of course he has to watch out. In recent years it has been found that the expiry date of the Portuguese is shorter than that of a fresh pack of milk from the refrigeration of the supermarket. For the collection with Derby, it is expected that he will bring a mix of substitutes and basic players within the lines.

Derby County:

Derby County had a fantastic general for the game against Manchester United at Old Trafford. Last Saturday, it triumphed 3-1 over title candidate Brentford at Pride Park. Although the guests quickly took the lead by a goal from Henrik Dalsgaard, Derby County quickly turned its back and within half an hour the final score was reached by goals from: Harry Wilson, David Nugent and Mason Mount. The latter we know in the Netherlands and Belgium of his stay in the season 2017/2018 at Vitesse when he nine times found the net in twenty-nine games. This season, he is once again being leased by Chelsea (where he has a three-year contract). Derby County can now benefit from the services of the 19-year-old super talent. In five games he already scored twice as ‘number ten’.

Frank Lampard with his reaction after the victory over Brentford: ‘We started the game a little by giving a corner easily. The reaction was good. We created many opportunities. The difference today was in contrast to the midweek game against Blackburn Rovers (0-0) that we now use them. Even three within half an hour. That is very good against a strong team like Brentford. Our energy on the ball was good. We were so fast and we could keep the ball in the team for a long time. ”

Frank Lampard is known as a manager to know that he does not like to rotate. For example, his basic team from Tuesday, September 18, differed only with last Saturday. Florian Jozefzoon had to relinquish his place to Harry Wilson. It therefore seems very likely that Derby County will kick off with the same team on Tuesday-evening in Manchester as it did last Saturday afternoon.
