Kaiserslautern – Braunschweig SOCCER PICKS

Although there were not many surprises last week in the first round of the DFB Cup, this result was one of them: Kaiserslautern from the third league beat Bundesliga club FSV Mainz 2-0 and entered the second round of the competition.

The joy of Betzenberg knew no bounds and can hope for a glorious future – perhaps with a return to the 2nd Bundesliga in the next season. For this, the Red Devils but now also in league operation nachlegen. So far, the results were mixed in the still young season and if Kaiserslautern does not win again on Sunday, then the club threatens to have to run after early.

With opponents Eintracht Braunschweig could be up to the last match day with the prelude to the new season completely satisfied. Then there was a resounding slap in the home game against MSV Duisburg, which now has to be balanced. The potential to play the climb can be found in both Kaiserslautern and Braunschweig.

But in a strong 3rd league with among others Ingolstadt and Duisburg it will be difficult. All the more important are the points in direct encounters. However, in the game between Kaiserslautern and Brunswick, it is difficult to predict a winner.

Kaiserslautern :

In the end it was a single party. In the first Rhineland-Palatinate derby since 2012, 1. FC Kaiserslautern celebrated in the first round of the DFB Cup last weekend a 2-0 win over FSV Mainz. In a thrilling game, which was intensively led by both sides, a goal in the final minute finally decided the game in favor of the Kaiserslautern, who did not make an undeserving move to the next round.

Only a few weeks ago in Kaiserslautern they were worried about the license for the third league before new investor Flavio Becca eased a few euros. The Luxembourg real estate investor wants to lead the club back to the Bundesliga in the medium term. The atmosphere in the stadium at the Betzenberg is in any case already federally ready, as some Mainz professionals had to recognize after the meeting.

In the 3rd league, however, the home stadium has not been a real fortress so far. Both against Unterhaching (1: 1) and against Ingolstadt (0: 0) Kaiserslautern did not come out over a draw. In general, the Red Devils could win only one of the previous four league games and have lost another. With the tenth in the table you lag far behind your own expectations, but hopes that the victory against Mainz brings the desired momentum.

The way in which Kaiserslautern played the game against the Bundesliga club from Mainz impressed in any case, and above all the fact that you could play at the back to zero, gives particular boost. If you want to highlight someone from the squad of the Lauterer, then this is undoubtedly Florian Pick.

The 23-year-old striker has already scored four goals in the first four match days of the new season in the third league, the same amount as in his 28 appearances in the last season. In addition, he was the one who made in the game against Mainz in the 90th minute with the 2: 0 to the game.

With the success in the derby Kaiserslautern remained in the seasonal and competition-spreading fifth home game in a row without defeat – three victories. Curious: In the match against Mainz saw Kaiserslautern coach Sascha Hildmann already the second yellow card (!) This season.

Unlike the injured Runar Bjarnason, Lukas Gottwalt, Lukas Spalvis and Janek Sternberg, the trainer will also be there on Sunday. In the match between Kaiserslautern and Braunschweig, the odds of betting home wins are almost as high as betting on away wins.

Braunschweig:

Instead of cup feeling it was said for Eintracht Braunschweig in the last week: Test match against the Berlin regional division Altglienicke. At the end there was a befitting 4: 1 for the lions on the scoreboard, which shot up a bit in the mood.

This was a bit in the basement after the last matchday in the 3rd league. Braunschweig started strongly in the new season, winning the first three games and scored eight own goals. No other team had reached the maximum yield of nine points on the first three matchdays.

Then, however, second-division relegated MSV Duisburg came into the Eintracht stadium and the hitherto league leaders was clearly and clearly defeated 0: 3. Against the team of their ex-coach Torsten Lieberknecht the lions did not have the slightest chance and were inferior to their opponent in all respects.

Thus, the promotion ambitions that were immediately available after the first three matchdays, a small damper was added. But some seem to forget that Braunschweig in the preseason only on the last day of the game by a 1-1 against the immediate rivals Energie Cottbus rescued and held the class. Nevertheless, the lions have the potential sooner or later to return to the 2nd Bundesliga.

So far, newcomer Martin Kobylanski has always been the winner. The German Pole has been directly involved in six of the previous eight goals, four of them he scored himself. With Marcel Bär, who had moved to Eintracht last winter, is the 25-year-old not only in the running game, but also at standards a difficult to see through duo.

On the other hand, experienced striker Nick Proschwitz, with € 100,000 compensation for the most expensive purchase this summer, is still waiting for his first goal. Experienced but is a good keyword, because especially the department in midfield is experienced with their on average over 30 years, but just not so lively.

This became particularly clear in the match against Duisburg, when it was the midfield players who had to pay tribute to the zebras’ high tempo and could only watch the opponent play their combination game in stages. Nevertheless, the lions have one of the most expensive squads in the 3rd league and are certainly measured by it.

In this respect, from the point of view of Eintracht, in which Felix Burmeister, Stephan Fürstner and Lasse Schlüter will still be absent, to rehabilitate themselves for the home defeat against the zebras. Nevertheless, I would in the game between Kaiserslautern and Brunswick despite lucrative odds for a tip on an away win the fingers of such a leave.
