Gibraltar – Switzerland Prediction & Picks (18.11.2019)

Gibraltar – Switzerland SOCCER PICKS

The Swiss national team is about to qualify for the European Championship 2020. With the home win over Georgia, the course has already been set, now it is time to master the next compulsory task. The performance against the Georgian national team was not really convincing, especially as the winning goal was only achieved by Joker Itten in the final quarter hour.

Nevertheless, it can be assumed that Switzerland will participate in the EM 2020. A defeat or even a draw against Gibraltar would be not only a huge sensation, but the super-GAU par excellence for the Nati. The football dwarf will hardly be able to keep up with the guests from Switzerland, which is why we already regard the division of the points as utopian.

It remains only the question of how high the away victory of the Swiss in the end fails. Even a scoring of the home side of the island seems to us in this case rather unrealistic. It also helps the cross-comparison in the duels with Georgia – Gibraltar scored two goals in contrast to Switzerland – not much.

To benefit from the Gibraltar against Switzerland quotas, a forecast for a shooting festival of the Swiss is quite promising. Especially recommended is a view of the Tor market.

As expected, Gibraltar is eliminated as group last in the European Championship qualification. For the small football dwarf there was no single point win in the group stage. The only success was the “Torfestival” against Georgia, where Gibraltar surprisingly scored two goals. For the small football nation, the qualification for the European Championship 2020 ends now with the match against Switzerland.

There will be little change in the tactics of coach Julio Ribas. Gibraltar is expected to start defending at the start of the game and face the Swiss offensive with all eleven players. It is important to concede as few goals as possible. With 25 goals Gibraltar is currently one of the weakest teams in the entire European Championship qualification.

Of three teams Gibraltar is still outbid, so there is at least a small consolation. In the past 45 international matches as a member of UEFA, the football dwarf has collected 38 defeats so far. The last victory of the Gibraltar national team is already a year ago.

In the UEFA Nations League, Gibraltar defeated Lichtenstein 2-1. Before that, there was also a surprising 1-0 against Armenia. Since then, there have only been defeats for Gibraltar. In the last group game, the team of Ribas conceded a 0-6 clap against Denmark.

Only two legionaries are found in the squad of Gibraltar. But Reece Styche (Hereford) and Tjay De Barr (Real Oviedo B) both play for amateur clubs. Accordingly, not much should be expected of the Gibraltar national team in the final group match. In Gibraltar against Switzerland is already a tip on a goal scored by the home side with high odds remunerated.

The first of two compulsory tasks was mastered. Really sovereign was the idea of the Swiss Nati but not, especially since the winning goal against Georgia fell in the final quarter of an hour by Joker Cedric Itten. However, since the game was finally won, just a single point against the football dwarf from Gibraltar enough to solve the European Championship ticket on the regular qualification.

A second chance for a European Championship ticket would have been – theoretically speaking – about the UEFA Nations League play-offs, but after the home victory over Ireland it was clear that the Swiss would move to regular UEFA EURO 2020 qualifiers. A defeat against Gibraltar would be the super-GAU in the federation history of the Confederates.

Due to the huge difference in quality between the two nations, anything but an away win for the Swiss is to be excluded anyway. In contrast to the home game against Georgia, the offensive of the Nati will probably not take too long for the first goal in the game.

Despite the long list of injuries, the weak performance of the Swiss in the last home game against Georgia was not very nice. Vladimir Petkovic will not change much in his playing system against Gibraltar. Even if his team theoretically already draw would be enough, the route is clearly in the direction of a victory.

After the obligatory task against Georgia has already been fulfilled, some changes in the squad can certainly be expected. For example, goalkeeper Cedric Itten can expect more time during the game than in the most recent home game against Georgia.

How high the victory of the Nati fails in the end remains to be seen for now. The record against Fußballzwerge can certainly be seen, but the goal was not always convincing.
