FC Volendam – Almere City SOCCER PICKS

On Friday evening, Volendam will receive the surprising leader of the Keuken Kampioen Competitie at home. Can the Flevolanders maintain this leading position or will the home team continue the line last week?

Volendam:

FC Volendam finally managed to win again last week. Cas Peters already scored the 1-0 after 6 minutes, which later also turned out to be the result. This enabled the Volendammers to finally achieve their first much needed home win of the season. A bonus here was the displayed game, which looked good and for recently appointed coach Hans de Koning of course a great start. He replaced Misha Salden on 1 October, who combined this position with his role as manager of football affairs. Misha will return to his old position where he can now fully focus again.

After the boost from last week, home team will have to put the same pot on the mat if they want to beat the excellent Almere City. The history is in favor of the Volendammers, however, since the last victory in the Almere competition in the Kras-stadium dates back to 2014. In terms of preparation I do not expect any changes, which means that, among other things, goalkeeper Mitchel Michaelis will again be under the bar after his election in the ‘VI team of the week’.

Almere City:

The Flevolanders will be in the best mood. The last four games they all won, the last three in the Yanmar stadium. Likewise last week against title candidate NEC. Matchwinner became the mercenary of AS Roma Edoardo Soleri, who made his third goal of the season. Besides this striker, Almere City also has access to Niek Vossebelt who already has six in it. Manager Michele Santoni recently got an extra option in the forefront, as Almere recently secured the 27-year old winger Torino Hunte free of transfer. This attacker has been training for a while now, so he could immediately travel to Volendam. Incidentally, we know him from VVV Venlo where he played 32 games last season (3 goals).

Almere City will therefore travel to Volendam with a good feeling, even though it is traditionally a difficult opponent to play against, especially in Volendam. However, the Almeerders have so far taken full loot in the three away games they played with the impressive goal difference of 9-3.
