Graafschap – Feyenoord FREE PICKS
Feyenoord bombed last Thursday in Europe with a 4-0 defeat against Trencin. On Sunday, the Rotterdammers have to look for a recovery, in the game at PhD student De Graafschap.
De Graafschap was one of the two teams (besides FC Emmen) who managed to glory in the nacompetition. The club from Doetinchem first beat Telstar, and had the luck that eliminated Almere City Roda JC. In the final round De Superboeren counted with the club from Flevoland. The club, after the relegation in the 2015/2016 season, is back in the Eredivisie.
The preparation for the upcoming season did not go as planned. Several opponents in the scheduled exhibition games called off, on the grounds that De Graafschap had been promoted. The selection of trainer Henk de Jong does not seem suitable to throw high eyes in the Eredivisie, although in the fight against relegation they have to deal with teams that can not put big transfer fees on the table either. In that respect, De Graafschap does have a chance.
Feyenoord has already had different moods this season. Last Saturday, there was the joy after the won Johan Cruijff Schaal, after penalty kicks against national champion PSV. Nothing is left of that joy at the moment. On Thursday, Feyenoord embarrassed himself in Europe. The small Slovak Trencin was lost 4-0. Particularly in the first half it did not look like anything the club from Rotterdam showed. Where a defensive tactic was still very successful against PSV, the team faced Trencin in an undisciplined manner.
As a mitigating circumstance, Feyenoord missed many players due to injuries in Slovakia. A few of them are back on Sunday. Trainer Giovanni van Bronckhorst also announced the necessary changes. Robin van Persie will start again in the striker. Sven van Beek and Soufyan Amrabat will also be referred back to the bank after their default in Zilina.
