The most appealing match of this round is that between Bayer München and RB Leipzig. What can we expect from this game?
FC Bayern:
Bayern Munich has found the right form at the end of this calendar year. Last Saturday, the national champion was far too strong for low flyer Hannover 96. In Lower Saxony the Munich team easily won 0-4. Bayern dominated old-fashioned, both in possession and in odds. During the match it was only the question how high the score would fall out. Bayern, however, did not score much with the win – the deficit at Borussia Dortmund is still a good nine points.
On Monday, Der FCB did not get too good news in the draw for the eighth finals of the Champions League. Group winner Bayern meets the strongest number two of the eight possible opponents. In February and March of next year, Liverpool FC is the opponent of the Munich team. For the public it promises to be at least two beautiful competitions. Niko Kovac is unlikely to change much for Wednesday’s game. Arjen Robben can only be used again after the turn of the year.
RB Leipzig:
RB Leipzig has only two points less than FC Bayern after fifteen Bundesliga matches. Those Roten Bullen have that good position in the ranking mainly due to the good football in home games. No less than twenty points picked up the red-whites in their own stadium. Sunday was also won for their own public. Yussuf Poulsen and Timo Werner both signed for a Doppelpack, in the match won by 4-1 against Mainz 05.
Since the promotion of two and a half years ago, Leipzig has already played some appealing matches against Bayern. The most spectacular edition was that of May 2017. Bayern was already champion and Leipzig seemed to be winning. In the final phase, however, a 4-2 lead was handed over. At the time, 4-5 was lost by RBL. Last year, Leipzig won its home game against Bayern (2-1). Trainer Ralf Rangnick could change on Wednesday in his basic eleven. Marcel Sabitzer will have to fit in anyway, he is suspended.
