Oostende – Genk FREE PICKS

Sunday afternoon we can expect a nice match between two teams who try to find the footballing solutions. KV Oostende will take on KRC Genk for its own public. Both teams are certainly contenders to get play-off I to make a good match.

KV Oostende:

In his very first season as head coach, Gert Verheyen will not be able to leave his mark immediately at the first matches. That only becomes clear as the competition progresses. It is clear, however, that, just as in his period as an analyst, he remains honest and remains very correct. This way his team also plays football in the cleanest way to come out of every situation.

After two games, KVO has achieved three points. Last week it went to Constant Vandenstock Stadium to give Anderlecht a party. In the first half KVO managed to stop the home team and we were allowed to score a 0-0 score. In the second half we got seven (!) Goals. Ivan Santini again scored a hat-trick just like on the first day of play. In between, Dimata again scored twice and Ostend Guri and Milovic managed to temper the score somewhat. So we got a brilliant 5-2 score on the board after ninety minutes of playing football.

Gert Verheyen did little after the victory of Anderlecht. The home team was more dominant and Ostend could not compete with it despite the good courage. Maybe transfers are still needed to dare to participate in play-off I. An objective is not necessarily there, but that is what the trainers duo Verheyen-Van Der Elst intends to do.

KRC Genk:

Genk is doing something for the moment and that is anything but simple. A sign that things are going well with the Limburgers. After two days of play it has four points and is the closest pursuer of leading duo Club Brugge – Anderlecht. Also Europe is doing everything to be able to play Europa League again and for the time being it succeeds with verve. It won 2-0 against Lech Poznan last Thursday.

Again it was Malinovsky who managed to put the Limburgers ahead. Just like he did in the home game last week against Sint-Truiden. Then he did that with a magisterial free kick from thirty meters, it was not for nothing the goal of the week. That goal was also well deserved after Genk had already kicked twice. But Sint-Truiden nevertheless managed to score just five minutes later. Genk had twenty minutes to do something about it but after striking the bar twice again, STVV could miraculously hold on to the final whistle.

A very strong Genk that could not win, or could not score. Striker Gano once again did not convince and that is what worries some fans. A good target man for Genk could well increase their chances on the title and that is what the board members also understood. If that can be done, Genk will be one of the contenders this year. Plus to bring in a constant this year of course.
