Holstein Kiel – Regensburg SOCCER PICKS

Mediocrity, no man’s land of the table, duel gray mice – these are probably appropriate attributes for the game between Holstein Kiel and Jahn Regensburg. In 2017, both clubs have joined together in the second Bundesliga and if we are honest, these teams have enriched the German lower house by a refreshing style in any case.

As it is in football, the players and coaches of both teams have aroused the desires of other clubs in recent seasons, so it can be said that the squads of these two clubs were completely ripped off. Many players now play one league higher or at more ambitious clubs.

Therefore, for both clubs in this season, relegation is the first goal. Right now, both are table neighbors. Holstein is on the 14th place with eight points. The Jahn has the slightly better goal difference, but only eight points. This is currently enough to position twelve. Thus, both teams are only one counter above the lower relegation place.

The form of the last few weeks left both teams with much to be desired. The performances were not always bad, but the bottom line was that there were just a few points left. Basically, both sit in the same boat. That may be the reason why in the match between Kiel and Regensburg a forecast is not an easy matter.

The direct duel on Sunday is groundbreaking. The winner can once again orientate himself into the midfield of the table. Who loses this match, however, will have to nibble at the international break, that is to say: first of all relegation battle is on the program. We think that the storks will not be affected, because in the match between Kiel and Regensburg we tend to a tip for a home win.

Overall, however, the odds suggest that this encounter is relatively open. Everything seems possible in this duel of table neighbors. The kick-off for the ninth round in the second Bundesliga between Holstein Kiel and Jahn Regensburg at the Holstein Stadium will take place on 06.10.2019 at 12:30.

Kiel:

The development of the storks was anything but satisfactory at the beginning of the season. With Kiel coach Andre Schubert clearly made a mistake. However, this was recognized in good time and pulled the emergency brake after a few games. Ole Werner should judge it at least until winter as an interim coach.

After all, he has managed to revive the team after the miserable start of the season, even if it was initially a failure against Hannover 96. Meanwhile, he seems to have brought his players back on track. A victory and a defeat from two games are a reasonable yield for the storks under the new coach.

Nevertheless, a lot of work remains to work out of the table cellar, because the balance of the last few weeks is still very weak. From the last five games Holstein won only one victory. The momentum after the success in the week before but is on the part of Schleswig-Holsteiner. Therefore, we tend to use the odds for a home win in the match between Kiel and Regensburg.

Maybe it was the much-quoted Brustlöser that has happened to the Kiel last weekend. At the guest appearance in Fuerth, the storks won a clear 3-0 win with a performance that certainly raised hopes to find their way back to success. Janni Serra and Makana Baku with a double were the match winners.

In general, it is thanks to Ole Werner, who has never doubted the qualities since the takeover of the team and his team has talked strongly that it may now go up again.

With passion and joy of play now against Regensburg the next victory is to be brought. These were the attributes that have distinguished the Kiel in the last two years.
On Sunday, Jannik Dehm, Aleksandar Ignjovski, Emmanuel Iyoha and Finn Porath will continue to miss. However, the coach will be able to live well, because after the triumph in the last week in Fürth, there is anyway no reason to make changes to the successful starting formation.

Regensburg:

What do you start with eight points from eight games? If we start from the 40-point rule, which is needed for the league, then eight counters are certainly not enough to here. However, one must also look at which opponents the Jahn has taken up so far. With Stuttgart, HSV and Bielefeld and Hannover Regensburg had previously very strong opponents to play.

Against this background, the yield is quite neat. Now, however, the Oberpfälzer must see that they now enter some victories, and has worked his way up to the winter break in the middle of the second division. The jump is not far and therefore the Jahn can be trusted in any case. Maybe even on Sunday in Kiel.

Although the opponents were strong, of course we have to look at the balance of recent weeks. From the last eight competitive matches Regensburg won only one victory. The proper start to the season with four points from two games was counteracted. In the match between Kiel and Regensburg a prediction on an away win is therefore not the first choice.

However, Regensburg had a really good game last weekend when HSV hosted the Continental Arena. The Jahn was initially the game-determining team and went through Sebastian Stolze 1-0 in the lead. The HSV could turn the game at the end of the second half, but Andreas Albers secured his team with the 2: 2 at least one point.

Now this counter must be refined against a top team in the league best in Kiel. However, this will not be easy, as coach Mersad Selimbegovic points out.

The Jahn coach has great respect for the storks and knows that you can give the Kielers no room to breathe, if you want to score there.
In terms of personnel, the Jahn continues to be in the green zone. With Oliver Hein, the Regensburg have only a single failure to complain. Therefore, it could also look like the Jahn after, as if Mersad Selimbegovic trusts the team that has delivered against the HSV a very decent match.
