Portugal – Austria Tips 18.06.2016

The second round of Group stage matches concludes with Portugal taking on Austria in Group F at the Parc des Princes on Saturday night. Both sides are looking for their first win in the tournament. The two sides have not met since a 1-1 draw in 1995.

Portugal captain Cristiano Ronaldo threw a temper tantrum following his side’s shock 1-1 draw with Iceland. The Real Madrid forward stormed off the field without shaking any opposition players’ hands before bad-mouthing his opponents in a post-match press conference.

Nani opened the scoring in the first half after poking in Andre Gomes’ cross, but for all their domination, Portugal couldn’t find a second goal. They were made to pay when a lapse in concentration lead to Bjarnason’s equaliser. One positive was the performance of midfielder Andre Gomes, who impressed with his passing and movement. 18-year-old Renato Sanches became Portugal’s youngest ever player at a major tournament after coming off the bench
